Usability study in Cyprus

The usability study is officially started in Cyprus

The device was developed based on a User Centered Design and already tested through a usability study.

User Feedback

The senso flex device (for home use) seems to offer, is that the patients have the opportunity to exercise at home, not only physically but also mentally with the possibility of their physiotherapist monitoring them without his physique presence. The monitoring will be done through specific software which is interconnected with a tablet (tablet) held by the physiotherapist and the device held by the patient at home.

This, in contrast to conventional care, where the examination is done only through visits to the health professional or diagnostic tests, offers a more complete picture of the individual's health and a continuous flow of data resulting in early diagnosis and intervention.

What may not be recorded, though, is that, in fact, high performance is achieved by other family members who may be using the device for entertainment. In this case, the data will be altered or distorted not allowing the physiotherapist to have proper monitoring.

In order for the device to work, it is necessary to have an internet connection in the user's home through which data is sent and received in real time. This data as far as the specific user is concerned is personal data and therefore security during their transmission and storage is very important and specific security protocols must be observed.

Given the above, we conclude it is undoubtedly a very useful tool that can help health professionals to intervene at any time. However, the healthcare professional should be aware of the limitations of the device being used and ensure that the device complies with personal data protection criteria, such as the European Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Based on the information provided in this article, we would like to present to you the COCARE project being under development, which will be addressed to people who have received physiotherapy in health centers and after their return to their home, will be able to continue their recovery using the SensoFlex. They will also be able to continue their recovery by using Senso, if possible, with a few visits a week to the physiotherapy or health center.

Exercise with Senso at the physiotherapy / health center

So far, there is no model on the market for a validated and user-friendly geriatric tele-rehabilitation approach that includes technological solutions for home education, personalized personalized training and digital central case management, which is just as effective but more affordable than conventional therapy. Therefore, there is a strong need for a comprehensive idea of healthy aging backed by digital solutions throughout the geriatric continuum of care.

Therefore, this project aims at the development of COCARE. COCARE consists of many elements, some of which have already been developed and validated. The COCARE ecosystem will be extended for tele-rehabilitation application. Specifically, COCARE includes:

• technology devices for cognitive training in clinics (Senso) and at home (SensoFlex) with high usability resulting from a user-centered development approach,

• an assessment system that provides a standard assessment battery that leads to analysis of physical and cognitive functional status and training recommendations,

• a digital management system based on the internet and a rehabilitation cockpit to guide and support the rehabilitation process throughout the care process.

The COCARE solution is an ecosystem based on technology for in-patient and out-patient rehabilitation, as well as a tool for supervised home rehabilitation (tele-rehabilitation). The solution combines user-friendly software (including patient management, evaluation and training) and proprietary hardware to ensure a safe, reliable and effective experience and treatment throughout geriatric care. COCARE is designed for treatment in geriatric health care and rehabilitation pathways. It begins during the inpatient and outpatient treatment of patients in clinics, hospitals or other treatment centers and continues, under the supervision of a therapist, in the home environment.
