About MATERIA - AGECARE (Cyprus) Ltd and their role in COCARE
Materia Group is a private sector, multi-shareholder social enterprise, founded in Nicosia, Cyprus in 2000 (registered SME). Materia’s vision is the improvement of the quality of life of older adults and people with disabilities living in Cyprus. The mission is to provide a diverse range of holistic Care, Nursing and Rehabilitation Services to this population, whether in the clients’ own home, or in Materia’s 24-hour care units, either as residents, short-term stay clients, daycare clients or outpatients. Services include: physiotherapy, cognitive rehabilitation / enhancement therapy, art therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, assistive technology support, nutritional counseling, home-care, psycho-social support and counseling, caregiver training programs, transportation services for people with mobility challenges, and others. The service model is based on a multi-disciplinary approach, aiming at providing the best value services for end users and their families. Materia is also a recognized training center for health and social sciences by the Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus (HRDA), and has a growing research department specializing in EU funded projects relating to Aging, Disability,
Health and Social Inclusion.
Materia Group Infrastructure includes two owned and fully equipped facilities (90 beds and currently at the stage of expansion to 120 beds) providing 24-hr services in different areas of the capital city, operating by a multidisciplinary team, providing a full range of care /rehabilitation / skilled nursing /dementia care services. For most projects, participants are recruited from the extensive database/network of current and alumni clients and their network who live in the community.
Materia is involved in user centered design and development of the COCARE project with a special focus on the clarification of end-users’ needs and requirements, recruitment of participants, contribution to the research design and conduction of the usability study and field trials. Materia, will be also involved in the design and implementation of the business and exploitation models.
